Back in business

My blog went on a hibernation mode for the past few weeks, but right now, it is back in action... I need to blow off the dust and polish the rust. Back to serious blog business!

Recently, I have been into Kdrama. Specific would be Korean Drama. More specific would be Korean Historical / Period Drama. I must say that I am really a hardcore fan of the historical / period genre. To be even more specific, I love Wuxia / Martial Arts Drama...

I think I love history, and there seems to be a special attraction to chinese oriental history. I preferred much so to watch ancient chinese flicks such as Legend of the Condor Heroes, Return of the Condor Heroes, Heavenly Sword & Dragon Sabre, Royal Tramp / Duke of Mount Deer, and etc, than watching medieval Western European movies and shows.

Maybe it is the blood that is flowing in my veins, calling me to be true to my birth and race. Haha. After Jesus was also quite oriental, as he was a middle eastern man. Too many a times, people have got that concept seriously wrong. I can't imagine Jesus being an "Ang Moh".

But what I love about Historical / Period Drama is the portrayal of brotherhood, friendship and devotion of love for each other. There is always a main hero and protagonist in the show, however, he is always supported by friends, allies and compatriots. The intertwining relationships in such show really emphasise the importance of relationships in our very own lives in such a modern time as this.

Everytime you see a Korean or Japanese Drama, they will always have a "Correlation Chart" to illustrate the inter-relationship of all the characters. I think this is what exactly Christianity is all about - building relationship with God and with the people around us...

I just listened to Susan Boyle, Paul Potts and Connie Talbot singing on YouTube. Wow, Simon's amazed and I am too. Really, Britain does have great talents...

All 3 of them may not look the greatest in their appearances, but they blew me away with their voices. Susan Boyle is 47 years old and plum, Paul Potts is a carphone salesperson, plum, and with not so nice teeths. Same for Connie Talbot, she is really adorable, but her teeth aren't that nice either. But who cares about that?

They sang, surprised, shocked, left the crowd speechless and got a standing ovation from the judges and the crowd. I too, salute three of these amazing people. They deserved it for their decision to step out of their comfort zone and brave their fears and insecurities.

These are classic examples of "not judging a book by its cover". But who are we to judge in the first place? God has a macro-view of the entire universe, but I believed that He uses his spiritual telescope and zooms right into the inner beauty that everyone possesses. You see, this telescope passes by the skin, the looks and the appearances, and go right straight in to what matters. It filters the less important elements, instead it focuses on the heart.

The 1st thing I hate about "Christianity"

Pastor How preached a radical and thought-provoking sermon last Friday, which simply stunned many people. I was one of them sitting in the service. However I was captured and captivated by how radical our Pastors are. They don't just preached about the "nice" and "good" things about Christianity, but they addressed issues that ain't so holy as well.

That is why I love my Pastors. They are real, genuine and transparent to us in their lives.

Just one interesting story to share. A story that captures the fact that Christians can be hypocritical sometimes. The story went like this:

While attending a university in London years ago, one young man became interested in the Christian faith. Upon his graduation, he was almost convinced, but was still seeking evidence that his faith was practical and true. He accepted employment in East Africa and for seven months lived in a home of a Christian family. As soon as he discovered they were followers of Christ, he decided their home would be an ideal testing ground for the evidence he sought.

Unfortunately, as the months passed, he saw nothing that attracted him. The family was apathetic toward him, and their faith. They didn’t reach out to him or to others, and they were casual about their commitments in general. In fact, they complained about any sacrifices they had to make on behalf of others. They never connected with him. Consequently, this student’s interest in God turned into disappointment. He left his pursuit of Christ and went a different direction, moving back home to India. He eventually led a revolution. This young man’s name was Mahatma Gandhi.

That family in Africa had no idea who was in their midst. Those followers of Christ missed their opportunity to influence Gandhi, one of the most influential man if the 20th century - because they were poor hosts. They never connected with him.

In fact, Gandhi once said that the reason for stopping him from becoming a Christian is Christians themselves. He quoted, “I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ.”

Even though this story plunges to a sad ending, it can still be a good learning experience for all of us. The moral and principle behind such as simple story is that...

When we are real and genuine, people will be naturally attracted to us. The world is made of many people, whose faces are hidden behind a intangible mask that covers everything up. They are looking for a particular someone, who isn't afraid to connect personally and genuinely, with a touch of realness in reality.

This is simply the best thing I've seen throughout this week. I can't help but to be amazed by how God creating humans to be so creative and innovative. When He breathes his life to us, it is the breath of life, of joy, of hope, of love, and of faith.

God is a creative creator who creatively create humans. And we who are created in His image, can be creative as well. Amen.

Sunday is always different from the rest of the week, but yesterday was the difference of differences. The presence and anointing swept through the congregation during a normal Sunday Service. Did I get that right? A normal Sunday service?

Certainly and Definitely. Whenever Pastor Lia preaches, a normal service becomes a mega-event. Maybe for just yesterday, God took special notice and paid much attention to a group of people gathering at the 12th level of near futuristic-looking building located at Paya Lebar.

Why? Because He sensed the expectancy and hunger of the people. We prayed and we cried out, and God heard us. Maybe He was just hovering over the rooftop, waiting to descend down . He was waiting at noontime, then it rained heavily, but the people still brave the rain and made it down for prayer meeting.

Now He knew that the people were hungry and thirsty. And we were all filled, revived, renewed, rejuvenated, restored, anointed, strengthened and touched by a God who is bigger than the universe, but yet still chooses to dwell in our hearts. A thought that cannot be comprehend.

God took center stage during service yesterday, but will we still allow him to do so in our daily endeavours? No longer shall we rely on our own strength, but we will rely on the Ultimate Source.

As much as Singpost Centre is the HQ for all mails and postages, God brought more than just a loveletter, He delivered His anointing and His presence through His mailman, The Holy Ghost.

And the stamp he placed on the spiritual envelope was priceless... Now, what is your reply to Him?

What an awesome week it has been so far. Eventful, powerful and fruitful.

Tuesday: Sat in for an enlightening Leaders meeting with Pastors. Our God never changes in His character for He is the same yesterday, today and forever. However, He is a progressive God as well, and that is why He wants us to grow, to increase, to reproduce and to bear much fruit.

John 15:16

You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you.

Suffice to say, Heart of God Church is definitely progressing, and that is we are experiencing significant changes in our church.

Thursday: Had a great time with C50. Spent some time ministering to Chin Wee, Su Ling and Nicholas. All 3 of them are great men and women of God and I love to spent time fellowshipping and just finding out more about their lives.

We are still small, but as we grow bigger on the inside, and continue to buff and beef up our spirit man, we can and we will experience the breakthrough that God has in store for C50.

Revelation: Connecting People

I was reading the bible today, trying to catch up my BRP. I am happy to say that I have completed the whole Book of Joshua already and now I am moving on to the Book of Judges.

But more than catching-up, what was more of a highlight of my day was that I had a powerful revelation when I was reading chapter 8 of the Book of Joshua...

Joshua 8: 34 - 35

And afterward he read all the words of the law, the blessings and the cursings, according to all that is written in the Book of the Law. There was not a word of all that Moses had commanded which Joshua did not read before all the assembly of Israel, with the women, the little ones, and the strangers who were living among them.

I was reading through the passages at quite a fast pace, and in my eagerness, I wanted to keep moving from chapter to chapter as fast as I could, and since Joshua 8: 34 - 35 were the last 2 verses of Chapter 8, I just scanned through it and decided to jump right into Chapter 9.

But I felt God tugging my heart and I paused for a moment. Something in my heart arose my and urged me to backtracked. And alas, the 2 verses became a God-inspired and God-engineered revelation.

I felt the need to connect myself more to God, Pastors and to the leaders as well, but not just me alone, but also to connect the people that I am leading, both C5o and the receptionists to the TOP as well. And that comes by immediate obedience and submission to God, Pastors and the Leaders. It says that "There was not a word of all that Moses had commanded which Joshua did not read before all the assembly of Israel'.

Moses heard from God and obeyed, and Joshua listened to Moses and obeyed him. The communication chain that flows from the top all the way down to the people was complete, whole, uncut, full, entire and unbroken. And because the communication chain was done right and the people obeyed, Israel eventually fulfilled God's promise to them, and that was the land of Canaan, a land flowing with milk and honey, a land of abundance and more than enough.

Bringing it into relevant context, whatever God, Pastors and the Leaders have imparted to me, I must be obedient and submissive, but more than that, I must be able to pass it down to the people I am leading as well. Not just some of it or here and there, but ALL of it and everything.

Energy will be lost down the food chain in the ecosystem, but this should not be the case in our church.

If the people are connected to the TOP, there will be growth, there will be increase and things will just work out right because you are in the perfect centre of God's will.

Truly, the Apostle Paul captured my revelation in two of his epistles:

1 Corinthians 11:1

Imitate me, just as I also imitate Christ.

2 Timothy 2:2

And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.

Both of these 2 verses were aligned exactly to my revelation... Ascending/downwards up or descending/upwards down, either way is important. As a leader, I must be able to connect the people up (2 Tim 2:2), but I must also get the people to connect themselves up independently (1 Cor 11:1).

The chinese proverb is true to the above; Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.

In a nutshell, this revelation has enlightened me on the importance and the need of connecting the people to the very TOP. What goes down and goes up must be full and whole, no lacking, no shortage and no leftovers.

Notice the verses and the numbers:

1 C0r 1:11 = 1 - 1 - 1 - 1 (Complete)
2 Timothy 2:2 = 2 - 2 - 2 (Complete)

1 is the beginning and the end.
2 is the alpha and omega.

If we can do this and live this out in our lives, I believed that Heart of God Church will be a strong and mighty church. Amen!

Connect + Love

If a leaf has fallen away from the branches, it decomposes...
If a kid strays away from the mother goat, it probably won't survive long...
If a child is abandoned in a shopping mall and is detached from Mum, he crys and feels lost...
If your Macbook is not connected to the power source, it probably can last 5 minutes (it is a special case for mine)...

As for me, I feel that I need to connect myself to the main source of energy, love, faith, hope, peace, sugar spice and everything nice. And that is God himself, my Pastors and my leaders. I need to be connected so that I can grow healthily, spiritually and exponentially.

The passage below reflects my thoughts and feelings at the very moment:

John 15: 1 - 6

“I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit. You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you. Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.

“I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned. If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples."

And it is interesting to note, that the verses and passage that comes right after this is about LOVE:

John 15:9 - 17

“As the Father loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My love. If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love.

“These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full. This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends. You are My friends if you do whatever I command you. No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you. You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you. These things I command you, that you love one another.

I think as we are connected to the main source and reservoir of love, we are able to love others at a higher capacity. We are able to widen our circle of love. I once read, "Love has no value unless it is shared" and I can't help but to agree to it.

If one stored up love in himself, the love will simply be wasted. It is like storing up potential energy and the not doing anything to it. Love has to move, and that is why potential energy must translate to kinetic energy.

That's why Pastors came out with this - Love God, Love People, Love Life. I realised that there is no love yourself inside, because love is for others, love is to be shared.

One of my favourite CHC worship song is "My Source" where the lyrics goes "You are my Source and my Salvation, nothing compares to You..."

That is what connecting is all about. That is why I love Nokia - Connecting People. How true and relevant is that to us being Christians.

Homebound: Came back not long ago from a kopitiam meeting with Roy and Wei Jie at our faithful Khatib hangout place, and that sums up a powerful and eventful day...

I just want to say that I (and of course, we) have the best Pastors in town, in the world, and in the universe. Pastor How and Pastor Lia are our spiritual parents, and rightfully spiritually so. They love us unconditionally for who we are, and not we have done. They care for the small little things that make up our lives. They are doing great things for God, but yet doing the small little things with great love like writing birthday cards and talking to us after service.

Truly one verse emanates my feelings and thoughts (Yassy shared about this during OGL Training earlier):

For though you might have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet you do not have many fathers; for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel.

Big Week Ahead!

I am planning for a big week ahead as I know God has something in store for C50, something that is beyond what we can ask or think of.

We have been praying faithfully and consistently for the past 7 days, toiling late into the night. The Engine Room of the CG never ceases. It goes on and on, like the stamina of migratory Swallows, Godwits and Geese, which have to fly for days, weeks and even months from the western to the eastern region of the world.

"Steadfastness" is the keyword for C50. We need to be faithful, consistent and committed to our prayers. The powerhouse behind the life and dynamics of our CG cannot cease operations. As we began to challenge our own limits, God will begin to increase our capacity.

C50 will be built to last, that we will never give up and give in easily and we will run the race even if it costs us our entire lifetime. That is the true spirit of a heart of God church Christian.

Hold your ground, hold your ground! Sons of Gondor, of Rohan, my brothers! I see in your eyes the same fear that would take the heart of me. A day may come when the courage of men fails, when we forsake our friends and break all bonds of fellowship, but it is not this day. An hour of woes and shattered shields, when the age of men comes crashing down! But it is not this day! This day we fight! The Lord of Harvest Trilogy: Part I

The enemy draws near. A legion of demons that no living man has seen before. An army so vast that it covers the mystical moonlit. Darkness befalls upon the farmlands of the earth. Every crop, every plant, every shade of green are being consumed by the unfathomable Deceiver. The life of this earth is slowly drained away into the abyss of hellfire brimstone.

He waits silently in the dark, waiting for an opportune time to strike his archenemy. As cunning as a snake, as powerful as a dragon, the Deceiver slits into the fading night. His shadow silhouetted, yet the remnant of vengeance and wrath bloated the air. He is hungry for flesh and thirsty for blood, he wants his foe eradicated.

But yet, The scent of a harvest of fresh and glowing flowers breezes through the stench of evilness. The Lord of harvest is definitely moving. His army, bright as the morning sun, arrayed with divine weapons and filled with the spirit, is ready for battle, for war, for triumph, for victory, for glory and for honour.

But yet He is waiting, He is patiently sitting on His throne, his eyes fixated onto the earth He created and held in the palms of His hands. He is waiting for a Hero to arise, a Hero to call upon the forces of the Light, a Hero that will bear His name.

He knew from the very beginning, in order for the Chosen One to fulfill his destiny as a Hero, he has to collect the the Sword of Truth and the complete set of the Armor of Light, divided as wide asunder as the polar regions.

It was written since the days of the Ancients:

The Whole Armor of God

Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of Light (God), that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.

Therefore take up the whole armor of Light (God), that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of Light (God); praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints

And for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.

Nothing comes easy, the Hero must venture through the mountains, journey through valleys, trek across rivers and falls, cross the mountains, conquer the sky, challenge weather to find the items.

Trails and Tribulation awaits the Hero. What will his fade be?

It seems like lightyears away since my previous post to this post. Haha... It has been a really long time since I blog, but it feels homebound to be able to do so again.

The Nokia tag line has a better combo than mine, but mine looks more faith-filled. Lol.

I also found myself hanging out in the admin office for these past few days. It seems like there is a invisble magnet that draws me there. The atmosphere, the surrounding, the environment, the buzz, the interaction is simply made in hoGc. It just feel so easy just to sit there for a few hours and I realised that I have completed all my work.

However, at home, I realised that I can take long hours to do just a simple task. There's something intangible in the office, that creates that workflow in me, to be disciplined enough to settle all my task before I take a break.

Hmm... What's that unseen force of attraction that exists in the office? Maybe it is the inbitation of God in the office. May the force be with you, young Padawan!

Haha. I finally made the port over from Wordpress back to Blogger. One thing to note is that the timings and dates of the previous posts are wrong, because I brought every of them over and now all the posts I did from February 2008 until now are all done in September 2008. Lol.

Because I slowly copied and paste the posts over to blogger. Maybe there is a more efficient and effective way to do so.

Wow... A frantic rush down to Somerset ComCentre to get my hands on my long-awaited iPhone turned out to be an eventful one.

I FOUND OUT THAT I BOOKED THE WRONG DATE FOR MY COLLECTION. I thought I selected 22 August, but instead I did 29 August. Dang! What a let-down...

Now, I have changed my collection date to 27 August, which isn't too bad after all. Maybe God is saying to me, "FULFILL YOUR BUILDING FUND FIRST!" I already have enough money to complete my building fund and I think I should probably get this done before I get my iPhone.

Happy Belated Birthday to Roy! Just want to say that you have been a great leader whom have taught me things that I never knew. Whenever I see you singing on stage, it just inspires me to see how great you are as a MAN who is really all out for God and for others.

Hey Chin Wee, happy birthday man! You're 19 already and I must say that it has been a great joy to lead you in C50. Yeah, it certainly is. It's so funny that both my father and Roderick's father have the same birthday as you. Happy Birthday to all of them!

I certainly had a wonderful time today. We had our dinner at Dhoby Exchange and then we had a walk down memory lane - a trip to FTMS House. Yeah man! Su Ling and Chin Lun got to see for themselves where hoGc used to be at. And we didn't stop there, we proceeded to Fort Canning and trekked all the way to Clarke Quay, where we spent some interesting time looking at Japanese Food Products. The store actually sells $22 Giant Pocky sticks. Lol.

I came up with a quote on the way home too. It goes like this;

The Dark Knight

Why so serious? You want to know how I got my scars? The Joker in this movie actually stood out more than the main superhero "Batman." The evil, psychopathic, crazy, lunatic and inhuman archenemy of Batman was portrayed by Heath Ledger and he passed away earlier due to an overdosage of drugs.

But I have to salute him for his really really magnificent (although quite scary at times in the movie) acting. His every word and every action brought out perfectly the insanity of the Joker itself. Hope he wins the Oscars award, although it will be awarded posthumously.

But not forgetting Christian Bale; I really like him though for his portrayal of Batman, whom I preferred to called as "The Dark Knight". I don't know why, but the Dark Knight just sounds so much better, maybe a little more superhero and mysterious element in it and maybe even sounding less cartoonish and comical. The Dark Knight or Bruce Wayne had to make many hard choices and tough decisions throughout the entire show.

Fighting crimes in a costume and mask made Batman more of a "backstage" crew whom advocate justice in the back drop, while the White Knight, Harvey Dent was more of a hero in the limelight to the whole Gotham City by being more opened towards publicity. And soon the people began to question the Dark Knight's purpose; was he helping or simply making things worse?

I would just have to stop here as I don't want to be a spoiler, with this being such a GREAT movie. "Iron Man" was more fanciful and flashy but "The Dark Knight" was more like a thriller with its dark and tense atmosphere, than an action film. Watch it for yourself. The twists, the actions, the adrenaline, the long hour (2 hours and 30 minutes) and not forgetting I got my ticket for just 6 bucks made the whole experience worth-while. Oh, and also, we watched it in the Grand Cathay, the biggest theatre in Cathay Dhoby Ghaut.

Let's just hope that there will be sequel to this movie. Why so serious? Because this is worth watching thrice. People say that a good book is worth reading twice. But a good movie is even worth more than that.

Pastor How shared about a Bethany Church in Surabaya that is led by Dr Alex Abraham and WOW, what can I say!? From a mere taxi driver to a great man of God that is influential and visible in Indonesia. Truly God is a God of all possibilities. All things are possible when we began to go on a spiritual sightseeing in the Fourth Dimension.

A church that takes on a project worthed USD 300 million at that time, to construct one of the tallest tower in Asia, the Jakarta Tower. Get me right. It is a church and it will be having its services right at the bottom of the tower. It is simply mind-blowing!

The Asia Region actually contains the two largest church in the world; Yoido Full Gospel Church in Korea, Bethany Church in Surabaya, Indonesia. In Singapore, there's City Harvest, but I also firmly believed in my heart and in the Fourth Dimension, that Heart of God Church will be in the tens and hundreds thousands in the time to come.

As we begin to pray and have faith that Heart of God Church will not only be a big church, but a strong one as well, we will definitely breakthrough in our attendance.

Went to Cathay with Chin Wee, Chin Lun, Su Ling and Zong You to catch "Hancock" the movie. Hmm. We paid $10.50 for the tickets and only got to watch an hour and 15 minutes show. Seriously, a total rip-off, and movie was just "average" in my opinion.

But anyway, more than the gloomy take on this issue, I got to talk and know more about Chin Lun, Chin Wee's younger brother and also Zong You and Su Ling. Had a great time walking around Plaza Singapura. Haha. Yeah. So it wasn't that bad after all.

I see this new CG, C50 breaking through in attendance and also in strength, because everyone is just so Amazing! We have:

This movie will see both Jackie Chan and Jet Li working together for the very first time. Another plus point to watch this movie is Liu Yifei herself. My Vision 2008

I think the past weekend during services was really a new beginning for my vision. After what Pastor Lia preached about on vision and that we need to wait patiently for it to be fulfilled, I was really encouraged in the spirit as God presented to me a fresh revelation.

Last week, during one of the weekdays, I got a revelation on living a life for Others. To be a leader, I think one has to have a great heart and capacity to love people. And that is what the leaders in Heart of God church is all about. Others. This is my Point B, my destination. I can say that I am living for others now, but it is still not yet at the level of God. I need to elevate my love life for others to God's level.

And the weekend proved to be even more power-packed. During altar call, when I was worshipping, God put in this word/phrase into my heart. And that is "lives-changing." I wrote the word down just like what was said in Habakkuk 2; Write the vision.

And I kept this word in my mind and thought about it after service. I began to link this 2 events into one and I pieced them together into a single entity. And in a nutshell, I think God is saying that my vision is to live a life for others,

"To live a lives-changing life"

I think it is one thing to have life-changing experiences with God and there is definitely nothing wrong with it. God will bless one financially, perform miracles and bring one through tough times. All these are great and powerful experiences that shape lives, but I am not contented to have these only to myself. I want others to experience what I have went through and this is what I call "lives-changing."

The amazing thing is that "life-changing" is still part of "lives-changing." The word "lives" is in plural, and that means it can include your very own life too. As you begin to change others for the better, you always gain a reward, which is that yourself begin to notice that your own life is also changing and growing to a whole new level in the process. Like what Pastors always said on the platform, when they preached to us, they are actually the ones who gain the most out of it.

My Pastors and my leaders in Heart of God Church are definitely "others-centered" Christians who give their whole life to serve others. They are my inspirations to align myself according this "Others" vision.

Raise up a generation of people who are willing to give God the best years of their lives and God will use this generation to impact all levels of society and all walks of life.

As you know, your PC is very vulnerable to external attacks such as viruses, trojans, spywares and so on due to the revolution of the Internet which has increased the vulnerability by a few folds. (That is why I am using a MAC!) This tutorial will show you how you can protect your PC from harmful attacks to your computer which happens so very often right now.

But hold on, wouldn't this cost me some money? All the anti-virus software that has annual renewal fees. All those expensive software to secure my PC!?

The answer is simply "NO." You will be amazed at all the things that come easy are actually available on the internet. Tempted? Continue to read on then....

The best part of this guide is all this just takes a little effort with no cost at all. The softwares that are recommended are totally free-of-charge, but yet still useful and effective.

*This guide is most suitable for notebook users and people who do not want to spend money, but yet still wants to protect their PC.*

Step 1: Firewall and Updating

Make sure your operating system is safe and secure. Always turn on your firewall especially when you are connected to a network. A firewall is a protective barrier that prevents intrusions to your PC and your network. Update your PC with the latest securities from Microsoft regularly (weekly) to make sure that there is no loopholes in your system. Both of these settings can be found in the Control Panel. If you are unhappy with the Windows firewall, you can try out Zone Alarm Firewall @ www.zonealarm.com . I have actually tried this software out in my previous laptop and I'll definitely rate it 5 stars. It gives you better control over your network with its tough and yet simple interface.

Step 2: AntiVirus

Get an anti-virus software. THIS IS A MUST especially for Windows. But how? So expensive and costly. Not to worry. You can actually download a free software, AVG Free Edition @ http://free.grisoft.com/ . This is one of few free anti-virus software out there available for your use, completely free! But if you already have Norton Symantec or Mcafee installed in your PC, then please continue to use them. Once you have an anti-virus software installed, immediately use it to scan your PC deep and thoroughly. This process may take a while but it is essential as need to detect and eradicate any viruses that are currently in your PC. Hey! But it does not stop here. Continue to scan your computer regularly, the best is to do it is scanning every week to make sure your PC is free of harmful viruses. You can either do this manually or set it to run a scan automatically on a weekly interval.

Step 3: Spyware and Adware

Get an Adware and Spyware Detector/Remover software. Another MUST for your PC. An adware or spyware is like a little bug planted in your computer to steal information and send it to the person who planted it. For this, you need Ad-Aware 2007 @ http://www.lavasoft.de/ . Install it and then let it scan your PC for any existing adwares or spywares. Same with your anti-virus software, update it regularly with the latest securities and patches and scan your PC thoroughly every week.

Step 4: Safe Online Browsing

Your PC is most vulnerable when you are surfing on the net or downloading something. So Step 4 will show you how to protect your PC when you are on the Internet. Firstly, I will say that Internet Explorer is not a great browser. It is good, but there are better out there. So I will recommend you guys with Firefox @ www.mozilla.com. This is one of the best browsers in terms of security out there and it is rated in the Top 100 PC Products in 2007. If you are interested in using Firefox, do consider these 2 add-ons; NoScript and Adblock Plus by installing them on https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/.

However, if you still persists on using Internet Explorer, then maybe you can do the following to make your browsing safer. First up, you will need Macfee Site Advisor @ http://www.siteadvisor.com/. This small little software will advise you on the sites you are visiting on the internet. It scans the websites for any possible viruses, spywares and spams and then inform the user about whether it is safe to visit it. You can also install the Yahoo! Toolbar @ http://toolbar.yahoo.com/ which has a pop-up blocker to prevent nasty pop-ups and it also comes with an additional spyware scanner. You should also set your browser security under Tools Menu, Internet Options, to high.

Next up, I also recommend IE7Pro @ http://www.ie7pro.com/ . This is one of the best add-on for Internet Explorer. One of the main security features is that it allows you to block annoying advertisements and make your browsing clean and organised. A short description taken from it's we bsite;

Step 5: Back-up Plan

Back-up your PC regularly. This is the most neglected practice but I will stress that it is actually one of the most important thing you must do. It is just like having the power to resurrect the dead. I will recommend BeInSync @ http://www.beinsync.com/ over Windows back-up utility as it allows you to back-up your system and store it on their server. All you need is to sign up an account and everything is good to go.

However, if you are a loyal fan of Windows applications, you can also use its very own back-up utility to store a copy of your latest system on a CD, DVD, removable drive and etc. This will come in good use when you find that your PC is killed by a undetectable virus and you need some kind of a revival. For this, you do not have to do it every week. The best time to back-up is when you find that more and more important documents are piling onto your PC. Every month will be a good practice, but just take note of it and do as regularly as possible.

Step 6: General Guidelines

These are some general practices you should follow.

Scan every file you download from the Internet and also every file you received from Peer-to-peer file sharing such as MSN Messenger or Bittorent. Even the tiniest document such as a 50kB Microsoft Word document should be checked before opening. Your friend most likely will not send you a harmful file. But what if his or her computer is infected with a viruses, and he/she still doesn't know about it yet.

Use a strong password for any accounts with combinations of alphabets and numbers e.g. h1o4g5c0rox. Your passwords should be longer than 5 characters. A 4 to 5 character password can be cracked by a computer easily in less than a minute. A 10 character password, in contrast, has about 3,700 trillion possible permutations and combinations and it will take a decade to crack it. Haha! If you study A Maths, you will probably have a better picture of what I mean.

Do not give away any of your information away either through emails or websites. Nowadays, there are a lot of fake websites out there, similar to the original website, which may lead you to give away confidential information without knowing a single thing. An example can be Citibank website which provides online banking. A hacker may set up a similar website to the one of Citibank and if one is not careful, he inserts his account name and password and click enter, the next thing he knows is that all his money is gone. This is called phishing or spoofing in Internet terms. Whenever you visit a website that requires the user to type in his username or password, just remember to check that there is a padlock on your Internet Explorer screen, at the bottom status bar or the URL starting with https://. This indicated that the website is safe and secure.

A: Well, paid products are certainly better as they provide more support, updates and feedback. But please, there is no need to waste money. Give God your tithing and building fund. Who knows, God might bless you with good health, and that may even include your PC.

Self-leadership

Many a times, I thought that leadership was an "others-centered" quality that people have and that unique ability to influence others. But on the flip side of the coin, there's something much more to it. And the revelation came from none other than a man who preached even though he was injured, Pastor How.

To be able to lead others, lead yourself first.

Yes, Leadership is still about "others", but to truly lead other people, you first must have your own life in order.

"Leadership is not about giving people instructions,

Neither is it giving people directions,

But rather, showing people an illustration of your own life."

To put it simply, you lead by example. You lead not just with empty words of command and delegation, but your lifestyle, your actions, your mindset, your emotions, your will, your character and so on. Let these things do the talking instead.

"Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity."

~ 1 Timothy 4:12

Have leadership over your own mind. Don't dwell on the negative, embrace the postive. Many people complained that their lives are completely messed up and there's nothing that he/she can do to turn it around. But be thankful for who you are, what you have, and who you can be in the future.

The fact is that our human brain retains bad memories better than good moments of our lives, but still the ability to think positively is very much a decision that can be made and something that can be done. It is all up to oneself.

The Holy Spirit can give you the gift of prophecy, but so can Negativity offer you such "power". It's your choice on what kind of a prophet you want to be, a bringer of good news, or a bringer of bad news? The bible reflects this principle in the book of Proverbs.

"For as he thinks in his heart, so is he."

~ Proverbs 23:7

At the end of the day, the greatest battle lies within. As much as Jesus is the master of our lives, God gave us the power of choice, and therefore, we are the master of our own thoughts. So today, will you take leadership of your mind, your emotions and your will?

I haven't been able to blog recently as I spent most of my time doing my school projects. But now I'm free at last, free at last! Haha! My projects are all done.

An extract of Martin Luther King Jr famous speech, " I Have a Dream."

A group of us went to catch "The Mummy" yesterday at Cathay and I would say that the movie was only passable. There were some nice action scenes, but I felt the plot was tight enough. I sat in the cinema and was passive all the way. It didn't hype me up or excite my senses. Maybe it was because I just watched "The Dark Knight" a few weeks ago and the movie had set such a high expectations and standard in my list of great movies.

But the good thing to cheer about is that more and more asian celebrities such as Chinese actress Liu Yifei in "Forbidden Kingdom", Anthony Wong and Isabella Leong in "The Mummy". If you didn't know, you can catch a glimpse of Edison Chen for a few seconds cameo in "The Dark Knight". I do hoped to see more of asians involving in Hollywood Block-busters.

But Su Ling, Chin Wee, Chin Lun, Dewlyn, Jonah, Yu Long and myself had a great time just chit-chatting with one another. That was probably the highlight of the day.

My favourite line of the movie was Brendan Fraser, "Here we go again!" and then he lifted both his guns. Haha. Therefore, I made this line the title for this post.
